new gear day

The newest addition to the pedalboard: the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe!

This bad boy has two separate but equal tone distortion channels, which is something that I’ve been looking for for a very long time. Trying to find the perfect tone for a slightly crunchy distortion has yielded me great results, of course. I had been using the MXR 78’ Super Badass Distortion and absolutely loving it, but it was never heavy enough to do darker or metal sounding riffs. It was great for soloing but I needed something more.

I paired the MXR with other distortions, including another MXR pedal but the two different tones clashed and made the guitar sound too tinny, something I was trying to avoid. I am a huge fan of a well-rounded and balanced tone, with prominent low end. Combining two different distortion pedals, especially ones likely designed for blues and rock, didn’t help me achieve the sound that I was looking for.

That’s when I took the internet and finally decided to stop fucking around and find a decent dual distortion pedal. I needed the same tone but with two different levels of gain. The Friedman BE-OD Deluxe did just that. Now I can set my first tone to be relatively light but still crunchy, and my lead sound to be exactly the same tone but with more gain for ripping solos. This is my ideal distortion pedal and you’ll be hearing loads of it on upcoming releases!

Stay safe, psychonauts.
